5th Data Donation Symposium until

The 5th Data Donation Symposium brings together leading researchers, practitioners, and innovators to explore the future of data donation and its impact on scientific research. Data donation represents a paradigm shift in how individuals can contribute to scientific research by voluntarily sharing their personal data. This allows researchers to address important questions while participants maintain control over their information.

The Symposium takes place on Thursday, the 1st of October and Friday, the 2nd of October

Leading up to the Symposium, we will host a Data Donation Sprint - a 1-day hackathon on a community-driven web application to map, document, and systematise DDPs across platforms. Our vision is to create a living, community-maintained documentation of DDPs that stays up to date, is accessible to anyone, and lowers the barrier to working with data donations. To do so, we will work in three areas:

  1. Infrastructure: improving the web application’s usability, conceptually and technically (the organizing team will build the app’s core functionality before the sprint)
  2. Documentation: documenting and coding DDP contents of a few selected platforms, and establishing best practices for doing so
  3. Systematization: mapping DDP variables across platforms, and establishing best practices for doing so

The sprint takes place on Wednesday, the 30th of September at the Weizenbaum-Institut.

Due to limited capacity, symposium spots will be allocated in this exact order of priority:

  • Presenting authors of accepted contributions
  • Sprint participants
  • Co-authors
  • Other applicants

On the 1st of October, we will organise a self-paid conference dinner open to all participants.
